Since the end of the 19 th century, of many crossings were carried out and a score of different dresses were thus selected. For example, for the case of the Point (end of the ears, legs, tail and face dark), the allele (part of a chromosome which contains several genes) is recessive. The two parents must be Point to have exclusively Point kittens. However, by marrying a relative Not with a relative of another dress, the kittens will not be inevitably Point. It is the same for the colour.
The gene of the Point has as caractérisque that it is sensitive to heat, therefore which it is expressed only in the colder zones of peeling, i.e. the tail, legs and the face. In addition, the clear colour of Siamese must with an albino gene. It is with cause of this gene that the Siamese ones have the bottom of the red and not yellow retina when they fix a source of light.
The dress of Siamese darkens with the age. It acquires its final colour towards the age of 1 year.
